Rainbow x Magnation II The Athenaeum

An installation and performance with elements of projection, installation, Mongolian throat singing, painting and sculpture.

The film Magnatation in Colour was projected over works in the exhibition. The swoops and lifts of Hannah Campion's colourful ribbon-like flow of painted paper danced and guided around fellow artworks in the exhibition.

Under the glow of the projection, a sound that has been referred to as the sound of death, vibrated, and awoke from dormancy, the space within which we stood, to experience the artwork.

The undulating depths of Howard’s throat singing reverberated to awaken the space - an ignition of the artworks, and of their witnesses.

The next three images show the painting-sculpture aspect of Howard Hannah’s multi-media installation, 'Rainbow x Magnation II The Athenaeum'.

In its wholeness, this work consisted of performance with elements of projection, installation, Mongolian throat singing, painting and sculpture.

Hannah Campion reflects on the work they have been creatting together:

“The magical way we make work pertains to another place. I always feel that this our aim - transporting people into a new world. I’ve always imagined that’s what happens when we pass over. We transport to a new special place full of possibilities and weightlessness. A bit like water.”
